Whether you’re an individual looking to share your thoughts to the world or a fortune 500 company, you need a blog. WordPress is the number 1 CMS platform worldwide and rightfully so. It’s easy to get started on, highly customizable, and has a community of millions working to make it better. With Free WordPress Hosting available, there’s never been a better time to get started blogging.
Step 1: Pick an Interesting Topic
When you’re deciding where exactly to start with your site, be sure you have a solid foundation and plan to move forward. Pick your topic or angle and stick with it. If you’re blogging for your company, obviously that topic should revolve around your main product or service. Don’t talk about oranges all the time when you’re selling apples.
You want to talk about something that interests you too. Remember, you’re the one that has to read and re-read these posts. Make sure you love it!
Step 2: Set up Your Website
Awhile back I wrote about how to set up your WordPress hosted website. To show you just how simple the set up is, I made a video overview for you:
Since then we’ve even launched a FREE WordPress solution to get you up and running without any commitment! Once you’ve set up your free account, you’ll want to customize the theme. I picked a template called Adamos because it is a clean, straight forward theme.
Here is how to log in to your backend and add the theme:
Step 3: Get to Blogging!
While blogging can be difficult to keep up with, writing posts on a regular basis is a must to keep content fresh. Some tips to building up a good archive of posts are:
- Write a post a day for a couple of weeks before you launch to get ahead of the game.
- Write multiple posts in a sitting, then save them to publish over time.
- Ask friends or colleagues to contribute to your blog.
- If you’re really looking to beef things up, you can always hire a writer in the industry to write some posts as well 🙂
Now, we know that some of our readers may already have a blog going and are WordPress pros just like us.
